1 Star rating from Juan Agosto, Happy customer

I like to give businesses a chance to make things right. I understand that manufacturers, warranties, and defective parts are not always under a dealer’s direct control. However, standing behind the products you sell and communicating with customers when problems arise is part of the job.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend purchasing a Deep South trailer.

On July 15, 2025, I purchased an 8.5×28 enclosed trailer from Phil’s Trailer Sales. The initial buying experience was acceptable. During the sale, John compared Deep South trailers favorably to a trailer brand I also own, stating that he believed they were better built.

A few months later, I took the trailer on a trip totaling approximately 2,000 highway miles. After returning, I noticed uneven tire wear on multiple tires. I currently own nine trailers and tow them with the same truck, so I was confident the issue was not related to my tow vehicle.

After further inspection, I suspected the axle had either been installed incorrectly or was defective.

Around October 1, 2025, I contacted Phil’s Trailer Sales and was instructed to submit a warranty claim. On October 7, 2025, I received an email from Marc in the warranty/service department. He acknowledged my claim and requested measurements to determine whether the axle was out of specification.

On October 18, 2025, I completed the measurements and sent them back with pictures proving the axle was not aligned correctly. According to Marc, the axle should have been within 1/4 inch of specification. My measurements showed it was significantly outside that tolerance, ranging from over 1/2 inch to nearly 1 inch out of spec. I provided photos and documentation supporting my findings.

I never received a response.

On October 27, 2025, I called again and was told Marc was out of the office and that my message would be relayed to him. Once again, I never received a call or email back.

I also attempted to contact Deep South directly and received no response. Between the dealer and the manufacturer, nobody followed up, provided an update, or offered any assistance. I tried again on November 11, 2025 and nothing.

What is most disappointing is not necessarily the defect itself. Manufacturing issues happen. The problem is the complete lack of communication and customer support after the sale. A simple phone call, email, or update would have gone a long way.

Looking back, there are warning signs I wish I had paid more attention to. Many trailer dealers proudly advertise the manufacturers they carry. In contrast, these units were often listed using generic descriptions such as “race trailer” without clearly identifying the manufacturer. Deep South itself has very little online presence, and finding information or support is difficult.

In the end, I spent a significant amount of money on a trailer that developed a major issue within a few thousand miles, submitted the requested warranty documentation, proved the axle was out of specification, and never received a response from either the dealer or the manufacturer.

That experience speaks for itself.
